Off to do some mission work.

A quick thought from Bro C. Emerson Strain

I will be off during the next two weeks in Jamaica doing some missionary work. When you hear of the country of Jamaica, you think of the beautiful beaches and motels and swimming pools that you see on the brochures and TV commercials. And it is true. It is beautiful there.

But then you walk 1/4 mile from the compounds of golf courses and motel suites that cost $1,400 a week and you see the people that make only $1,400 a year. By the time you make it up into the mountains, you find a society that makes a living on even less.

That is where we will be ministering at. Now don't picture in your heart some poor destitute people waiting for a handout. The Jamaican people are a hard working and proud people. That is what I enjoy the most in going to minister there. The Church services are full of people singing and praising God. There is always a crowd gathered outside the Churches and the surrounding area, listening in to the happy music and praises till late in the night.

The alter services can be a wonderful sight with people coming in from the outside with obvious needs for prayer. With the smell of ganja (marijuana) in the air, many a red eyed person has come forward for prayer and found a living savour in Jesus Christ.

And don't picture in your mind a bunch of people mindlessly working through the day. We work with fine men and women that are dedicated to their Churches. Fine local Pastors, Evangelist, Bishops, and Sunday School teachers. All dedicated to serving the Lord. We are always thankful to come by as Missionaries to help their outreach for Jesus.

Surprisingly enough, there is so much false teaching thru out the island country, that you feel very proud to preach the simple Gospel of Jesus Christ and him crucified.

There are false religions in the Country that say God's name is Jah, even though the Holy Bible never mentions this. These same people teach that smoking Ganja (marijuana) is ok, because they say it is the "fruit of the Lord". The Rastafarian religion. They say that the leader of Ethiopia, from 1930 to 1974, named Haile Selassie, is God. He was born in 1892 and they say is still alive. Go figure.

There are some teachings that came from America that teach that God's name is Jehovah, even though that name is used only 4 times in the whole Bible. It really makes you wonder why people are afraid to say the name of Jesus. Do they know in their heart that the Bible is true?

But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Mathew 1:20-21

So as you see, we have a mission field in America that needs missionaries, just as bad as Jamaica needs missionaries. So while I'm in Jamaica helping the fine Church people there, how about you doing a work where you live, and uphold the name of Jesus.

Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Acts 4:10-12

Remember us in prayer.
