Set heaven your goal.

A mini sermon by Craig Emerson Strain.

Ever wonder how a pilot lands an airplane in the fog? How does he line up the plane when the runway is obscured by the clouds?

On the end of the runway is a radio beacon that sends out a signal. If the pilot has the right frequency on his radio, there are two signals that are sent to that radio.

All the pilot needs to do is watch his gauge and follow the signal down to the runway.

One indicator on the gauge shows the center line of the runway. If the pilot is to the left of the runway, the indicator appears on the right of the center. The pilot has to turn the plane to the right until the line is in the center of the gauge. If the pilot is to the right of the runway, the gauge appears to the left of the center. All the pilot does is center up the indicator on the gauge and the plane is centered on the runway.

As a Christian, it is important to keep our heart centered on God. Don't allow your thoughts to go far to the left or the right. You can get too extreme to the left or to the right. You might think it is ok, but the closer you get towards your goal, the more you had better be centered on Jesus.

Let your moderation be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Phil 4:5

The second indicator on the gauge shows if your decent is correct. If your too high, the indicator will be below the center, and if you are too low for the proper approach, the indicator will be above the center.

Your attitude is a lot like your altitude. Do you think more highly of your self than you ought to? You might over shoot the runway.

Do you have a low asteam of your self? You might crash to the ground.

For I say, through the grace given to me, to every man that is among you, not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think, but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to everyman the measure of faith. Rom 12:3

But when you have lined up all the indicators, the glide slope will show as a cross. That is where our live should be, near the Cross.

That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: Eph 1:10

No matter how thick the problems are in your life. It you can't see your way through the clouds. Just keep your eyes on Jesus.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame. and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Heb 12:2

Heaven is our goal. God's Spirit is our signal.
