How opened he thine eyes? by Craig Emerson Strain. I love the simplicity of the gospel. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like unto it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and all the Prophets hang on these two commandments." Mt. 22:37-40 How simple a message, but how complicated people made the gospel. Even in the days of old, the scribes and the pharisees complicated the law to the point that when God came in the form of sinful flesh, to full fill the law, they couldn't receive him. And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, and said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way there fore, and washed, and came seeing. John 9:6-7 Now what part of that did they not understand? The neighbors which had seen him before, said he is like him. But the blind man said. "I am he." John 9:8 What part of that did they not understand? He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight. John 9: 11, 15, 27 The problem with each of the people (other than the former blind man) was the fact that they strayed from the simplicity of the gospel. After countless questions by all types of people (neighbors, Pharisees, Jews, parents, etc.), the blind man could even see clearer than before. The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvelous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes. John 9:30 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth. Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind. If this man were not of God, he could do nothing. John 9:31-33 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out. John 9:34 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him. Dost thou believe on the Son of God? John 9:35 Dost thou believe on the Son of God? What a perfect question even for today. Doesn't matter if you believe in the rapture or not. It will happen on God's timetable. Doesn't matter if you believe in foot washing or Lord's supper. God has a plan bigger that what you believe in. But the real question for you is this, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him. John 9:38 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you ward. 2 Cor 1:12 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 2 Cor 11:3 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
