by Craig Emerson Strain An interesting thought that goes along with the scripture in James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. Mat 14:23-25 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. Mat 14:26-27 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. Mat 14:28-29 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. A great scripture that we all love. Peter, walking on the water. God's plan is for each of us to "take a step of faith" each and every day. But there is more to this scripture, Look past your storm! It is easy to be caught in a storm and pray for the Lord to help, but what about looking at the storm to grow and learn from it. And also getting a vision of what you will do after the storm. So many times we hear the phrase "Light at the end of the tunnel" being used to say we can see an end to a problem or storm. But what about making sure, while your in the dark, that you are "right on track" with the Scriptures. That is faith! Being scripturally correct while your in a sinking boat. I would rather be in a sinking boat with Jesus, than in the Titanic that "couldn't" sink. Peter moved on past the "storm" and already had in mind what he wanted to do next. "Bid me come unto thee on the water." Others probably wanted the "storm" to calm down, But Peter wanted to walk on the water. Question to you. Do you just pray for the Lord to solve your problems, or do you see Jesus in your situation so much to just walk towards him and be the person that He wants you to be? 3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. Any time you "step out in faith", you are not leaning on your own understanding, but are trusting that God is in the plan. But for God's perfect plan in your live, you have to make a decision for what you want him to do. Peter's request was to walk on the water. Peter asked, God granted. If he didn't ask, God wouldn't have granted. Luke 11:9-10 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. |
