A true story by Craig Emerson Strain Several years ago, I stopped at a 7-11 store after an evening church service. As I walked up to the store, I noticed a rough looking group on motorcycles at the edge of the lot. I felt the urge to go share the Lord with the group, but I didn't follow through. As I bought my Mountain
Dew and Hershey bar and left the store, I saw the group again and realized
that it was the "Lord" that laid it on my heart to share with
those guys. So I started to walk over to the group. As I walked over,
I accidentally kicked a empty pop can with my foot. That can flew towards
the motorcycles and hit one right in the spokes. Big mistake! I saw that there was no turning around from this now, so I continued on toward the group and told them that the "God spoke to me to witness to someone here". That went over like a lead balloon! The group gathered around me and started to pick a fight. Each one jesting and seeing which could make the biggest fun of me. About that time one of the group, still with the bikes, hollered to the group to stop. He told them to leave me alone. He told us that he was a backsliden Christian who used to be the youth director of his Church. He was under conviction as he spoke and you could feel the honesty of his heart as he told them that he was now "far from God". You could see that everyone in the group respected this fellow and he began to tell the group about how he had known the Lord and that he needed Him once again. There was a revival going on right there in that group! I prayed with the
fellow and most of the group seemed to respect the reality of his need.
He prayed a prayer of repentance from his heart. He truly was forgiven
of his sin and you could see the thankfulness in the eyes of him and some
of the men in the group. I was amazed how God began to use this fellow amongst his friends, far better than I could, but now the anointing was on this fellow to be a Christian leader again! As I left, he was sharing with his friends about what the Lord had just done. I walked off knowing that my part was done there and that just taking that "little bit of time" to follow the Lord, was a big blessing to me and others in that group. |
