What were you thinking? A Mini-Sermon by Bro. C. Emerson Strain We are in a society that some how came to the conclusion that "the end justifies the means". Very little respect is shown to those in authority. We see people, driven by ambition, tearing down any person in authority. Politics usually comes to mind, and we justify it by saying, "It's politics". On the job, you might see someone mistreat someone else, and then we justify it by saying, "it's just politics". But the question is, does the "end, justify the means"? Solomon was a wise King. One day two women came before him. Both had a young child, one accidentally laid on her child while she was sleeping and the child died. She went before the King and stated that the other child was hers. As you well know, both mothers argued that the remaining child was theirs. But Solomon, knew which attitude would be the true mother. I
Kings 3:24 And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they
brought a sword before the king. Is something so important to you that you would destroy to obtain. Would you lie to obtain, would you tear down someone's creditability for your gain? Would you tear down friendships for your personal gain? Solomon saw that the real mother of the living child; wanted the child to live. Real wisdom. Very easy to see. James
3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then
peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits,
without partiality, and without hypocrisy. Solomon saw that the real mother of the living child; wanted the child to live. |
