To Ask, or not to Ask?

A mini Sermon by C. Emerson Strain

Do you know it is good to ask the Lord for what ever you need. Jesus knows your heart's desire. But he wants you to ask.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Heb 11:6

You could go through life never asking, never expecting and never receiving. You would get what you never asked for; nothing.

In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. 1 King 3:5

Solomon replied to God: Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may descern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? 1 King 3:9

And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. 1 King 3:10

The Lord spoke to David and said: Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Psa 2:8

God hears a sincere prayer from the heart. It could take 2 seconds, two minutes or 2 hours. But let me ask you this, if you asked someone for something that was important to you, would you say it in 2 seconds? Or would you take your time and articulate your request to make sure they understood what you were asking for?

David said, Thou has given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah. Psa 21:2

Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rainded not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. James 5:17

And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. James 5:18

What ever your request is, make it known to God. Don't be afraid to ask.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Mat 7:7

For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Mat 7:8
