I Can Do All Things Evang. Raymond L. Salyer As a child I read a book that told a story of a 'Little Blue Train Engine" that came to the aid of a circus train and helped it to get over a Big Hill so that the town folks on the other side of the mountain could enjoy the circus. The Little Blue Engines famous words were, "I Think I Can", I Think I Can", as he pulled the train up the mountain to the other side. As the engine pulling the train reached the other side of the mountain, he blew his whistle with excitement. The Bible tells us that at times we may faint and even may fall. "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40:30-31 No matter what problems come our way, God is there to help us, we must be as the Little Blue Engine and tell ourselves, "I think I can". Sometimes it may seem we may be climbing up the rough side of the mountain, but always remember, on the other side is a place Jesus has prepared for us. We're never alone as we walk with Jesus. Just like the poem, Footprints in the sand, Jesus walks with us and sometimes HE carries us. Jehoshaphat, King of Judah, faced a great battle against two mighty armies of the enemy. As Jehoshaphat prayed and sought God, the Word of God came through a messenger sent by God saying, "Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not your's, but God's." II Chronicles 20:15. Sometimes we must take our burdens to the Lord and leave them there. After the children of Israel crossed the Red Sea, free from the bondage in the land of Egypt, God was ready to give them their promise made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. But Moses sent 12 spies into the Land of Canaan, and their report came back of an abundance of a Great Land that 'flows with milk and honey'. Only 2 of the spies, Caleb and Joshua believed God would deliver the land unto them. They not only thought God would deliver that land to them, they knew He could. Because of the disbelief of the other 10 spies and the fear it brought on the Children of Israel, they wandered 40 years in the wilderness. When the enemy comes against you, and he will, "We wrestle not against flesh and flood . . . but against spiritual wickedness in high places." Ephesians 6:12. Pastors, he might say, "it's no use, why continue, you preach and no one responds. No one gets baptized or gets the Holy Ghost. Be as Jesus told Satan in, "Get thee behind me, Satan" Luke 4:8. We have the Power of the Holy Ghost on our side. "Greater is he that is in you then he that is in the world." I John 4:4. David told Saul that he would defeat that uncircumcised Philistine that defyed the Living God of Israel. Why? Because God many times had fought the battle for him and he always came out victorious. As David in I Samuel 17:49, "Took thence a stone, and slang it", these words he may have uttered to himself, "I Think I Can, I Think I Can!" Saints of God, we must not give up in this race we're running. On the other side of the mountain is a Mansion prepared for us all in a Land whose Builder and Maker is God. Remember the Little Blue Engine made it up the mountain because "He Thought He Could".
